SELASAR.CO, Nusantara - The Embassy of Finland for Indonesia, along with Business Finland, visited the Nusantara Capital City/Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) on Tuesday (14/1/2025) to observe examples of smart pole technology and other smart city technologies in Nusantara.

During the visit, the Finnish Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, Pekka Kaihilahti, and his team from Business Finland had the opportunity to directly observe the construction of IKN.

The Finnish Embassy's visit to IKN was accompanied by the Directorate General of Cipta Karya, Ministry of Public Works, the Directorate of Data and Artificial Intelligence, the Directorate of Funding and Investment, and the Directorate of Social Infrastructure.

The delegation had the opportunity to see technologies that will be implemented in IKN, including a Proof of Concept (POC) of Smart Pole at the Nusantara Techno House. They also visited the PSSI Training Center, the State Palace, and the Ceremony Plaza. The visit continued with a discussion at the UMKM Gallery with the Deputy for Funding and Investment of the IKN Authority, Agung Wicaksono.

"The main purpose of this visit is to collaborate with the IKN Authority in the development of smart city. We have expertise, experience, and best practices in smart cities, and we want to share them with Indonesia," said the Finnish Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, Pekka Kaihilahti. Pekka also expressed his hope that relations and collaboration between Indonesia and Finland could be further strengthened.

Echoing the Ambassador's statement, Deputy for Funding and Investment, Agung Wicaksono, said that IKN has a 2045 vision to become a world city for all. "We have many partners, and Finland is a country with the highest happiness index in the world and extraordinary technology. Therefore, the POC of Smart Pole, which is held by the Green and Digital Transformation Deputy from a technical aspect, is supported by the Funding and Investment Deputy from an investment and commercial perspective," explained Agung.

He mentioned that there are numerous Letters of Intent (LOI) from European countries, including four from Finland, and one of them has already been signed into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Agung hopes that with this MOU, realisations can be achieved so that investment will continue to grow in IKN, especially foreign investment.

"IKN has now generated IDR 58 trillion, including foreign investments, and it is possible that it will come from Finland, bringing smart city technology," he said.

For information, this visit is a follow-up to the MOU between the IKN Authority and the Finnish Ministry of Economy in January 2024. Also present at the event were the European Union delegation, Shanaz Patel, and the Acting Director General of Cipta Karya, Ministry of Public Works, Endra Saleh Atmawidjaja.
